Acupuncture for Infertility

Posted on 03.25.14

Have you been diagnosed with the condition of infertility or have spent more than a year trying to conceive but are still unable to? Are you experiencing irregular menstrual cycles or are known to have low sperm counts and are concerned whether you can concieve naturally without difficulty? Would you like to understand more about the process of fertility and how you can safeguard your chances of having a child naturally?

For most young people the concern of personal infertility never arises, just look at how much money we spend on products and services not to conceive! However, in todays modern society we are under much more pressure to achieve and compete. This creates a rather stressful environment – both inside and outside – at a point in our lives where our body is most prepared for conception and we are at the highest levels of fertility.

Prevention of Asthma

Posted on 03.25.14

For the prevention of asthma it is not so much as cure as it is of control of your symptoms. For both Eastern and Western medicine it is a difficult disease to treat but in most cases it is not life threatening. The best method of treatment includes the identification and avoidance of asthma triggers for long term maintenance and well being.

A trigger is merely any foreign substance that you are exposed to from your environnment. Triggers can be allergic or non-allergic in nature. For instance, roaches can be a trigger to a flare up of your asthma symptoms. In particular, the proteins found in roach saliva and also secreted from the oil glands of the skin in pets and shed as dander are highly allergic for some people.

Have your symptoms of asthma become more frequent or of greater intensity? Are you concerned that your condition will prevent you from being as physically active as you would prefer to be? Is your child’s asthma condition becoming increasingly more stubborn to control? Although there is no current cure for asthma and it’s causes are still being researched you don’t have to feel like you are stuck with experiencing all of the unpleasant symptoms. The condition of asthma is well known in Chinese medicine and has been treated successfully. Whether you have breathing problems only once in a while or have been struggling with asthma for years acupuncture for asthma might be able to help you control your symptoms better.

What is Asthma?

What is asthma you say? Asthma is not a simple disorder but the causes are being narrowed down. Many believe that a combination of genetic and environmental factors are involved in the etiology of the disorder. The basic symptoms of cough, chest tightness, wheeze and shortness of breath, however, are pretty straight forward. The intensity these symptoms present themselves depends on how sensitive your airways(bronchioles) are to outside triggers such as allergens and air pollution. This constitutional predisposition can be inherited.

Chinese Medicine for Migraines

Posted on 03.25.14

Pain is the most common reason why patients would initially seek treatment from an acupuncturist in the United States. Of the types of pain treated by an acupuncturist the most common would be musculoskeletal in nature. The second most common area of treatment for pain would include headaches especially tension type and migraines. More commonly the patient has already been diagnosed and has tried many types of treatments already.

Acupuncture by nature will cause the dialation of blood vessels around the insertion points of the needles. This usually would not be appropriate for treatment of acute migraine with points on the head as the blood vessels are in a state of increased dialation from over excited neurotransmitters already. Mostly all of the acupuncture points selected would be found on the arms and legs, with some of the most powerful on the feet. This is because most of the meridians that are affected by migraines travel from the head down the length of the body to the feet.
